Question

Could someone please tell me what the max speed for space savers are and how long logically you can keep them on the car.

50mph, and don't do extended distances on them either!

Replace as soon as is practically possible.

Word of warning to those who have upgraded their brakes to 4 pot calipers on pre 98MY cars. The space saver supplied won't clear them, so if you get a front puncture you'll have to get towed or use one of those sealer/re-inflator cans.

You could switch a rear wheel to the front and put the space saver on the rear.

Might be hard work though!

Pete C had to swap his front/back wheels when a huge pothole leapt out and destroyed one of his wheels last year, best thing to do is have another car nearby or another jack in the boot, that way can you jack front and back up and its much easier and quicker.

Cool

I had the same problem with a puncture on the front.
This also destroyed the wheel and the tyre.

A problem of 17" wheels and 40 section tyres.

If you have upgraded suspension it is poss to jack the front up and the back will come up aswell if you wind it up enough. ( undo the nuts bar 1 first).
This helps when you have upgraded brakes as previously mentioned.

Penni,

The wheel is restricted to 50mph. It can cover large distances but it is a chore. Word of advice, don't get a puncture at a little place called Tongue and have to drive to Inverness for a replacement on Easter Bank Holiday Weekend. Go have a look, Tongue is at the top of mainland Scotland.......

My front passenger side blew a huge chunk out of it (a small rock) and it wasn't a major drama putting the space saver on the back and the rear on the front.

Does anyone know the price of these space-saver tyres? A "friend" helped me by fixing down my sub in the boot, by screwing a bracket into the baseboard of the carpet - straight through into the spare. So now I need a new spare... How's about 75 quid?! Anyone know anywhere I can get one cheaper?
