What should it cost for a 30k service - I seem to remember someone saying about £400 but I just got a quote for £650 from a local garage.

36,000 with cam belt around the four hundred mark
£600 does seem a bit steep
I got stung recently with just a tyre for not shopping around
£137...

EDIT :- if your car required parts that were not in the normal service schedule then you have to expect the price to reflect this. all assuming it did of course ??

EDIT : correct Brun 36 months 75,000kms or 45,000mls
my mistake

My 30k routine service came to £397 at Holcrofts Subaru, the rest of the group is ****, but the surbaru garage is bearable. They did try and charge me £150 for front brake pads though ! I wouldn't pay over £400, unless of cause stuff needs replacing.

When fitting a timing belt, get them to replace the crankshaft oil seal(its about £5).I got new belt fitted when I got mine, then 6 months later the seal went.To change seal the belt has to come off, then oil contamination on the belt not good!.So you have been told its worth it in the long run.One more thing a belt change in N Ireland is around £200inc VAT!!!!

£320 at 'Subaru Specialist' - ex-franchised dealer. Including Mobil1 oil. No cambelt change. The Subaru 'service & waranties booklet' says replace at 45,000 mls, the 'Owners manual' says replace at 60,000 mls ???

Do specialists like TSL not offer servicing at a decent price? At least I'd trust them to do it right and not to rip me off. Of course it would cost you more as youd buy loads of stuff you didnt intend on buying.

I only ask as my 30k service is coming up (car only has done nearly 6k as it was in a garage mostly before I bought it).

Simon.

Mine was £340 at Nobles - near Edinburgh. That was with the 10% SIDC discount.
