And the month after, there will be a post bag full of letters from old codger's demanding to know why a 98 Impreza is deemed a classic...as they did when they did a review of the XR3i and RS Turbos' a while back.

Miserable buggers!! - but if it's not pre 1980's, then it seems that the readers are not interested..

Well, I am !

Well as the owner of a "proper" classic - ie 1977 2.0 MkII Capri with beige vinyl roof, Id like to complain.

Id like to complain about how pants it is next to my MY96 4door turbo. Who wants to drive a slow heavy lumbering wallowing million year old piece of tin when I can drive the scoob? Not me, so its going back to the in-laws to be kept there.

Bit of a grey area this one...to be a classic it really has to be over 25 years old. A classic also has (imho) to be be something with a design excellence in some shape or form. The 2CV had it, the Capri...well that's mass-debatable, the Scooby....not yet. It almost certainly will be assigned classic status though, but watch this space and check back on Scoobynet in early 2018.

Maxi's / Marina's / Allegro's are all called classics by their owners. I beg to differ. There isn't that much Jap crap with classic status.

Cheers,

Rich
ps MY01 wagon will definitely be a classic

Well...I can believe that of the Maxi Owners Club ...now they've got to be absolute lunatics ! LOL Scooby Owners....I'd say they can generally be classified as "People who can't afford a Porsche". For me, its because I can't fit in a Porsche !!!!!

Cool

Does that mean my '86 POS XR4x4 can be called a classic

BTW Richie, I would definitely call the Datsun 240/260 Z series classics.
