Question

Just checking over some new insurance policies to see which one suits.

One of them has the exclusion worded,
use for racing, competition's, rallies or trials.

Now SIDC track events are not racing(it says so in the guidelines) are not competitions(no timing or 'placings') and not rallies in that again there are no placing, timings or 'stages'. I'm told the SIDC track day policy explicitly states that it is not a race, speed trial or timed event.

Does this mean that I am covered for SIDC track days?

Thumbs down

No mate (or highly unlikely).

The terminology used has been around for yonks, long before track days existed. If you ask them, they will probably run away in horror.....

Interesting one this.

At least one individual has proven that this wording enables track days to be covered. Many policies now include wording which says that any events on tracks designed for motor racing, training or skid pan, etc, etc are explicitly not covered.

This was introduced as the original wording did not exclude track days a la SIDC.

To be safe, contact the Insurer in question.

Talking

This is what has puzzled me. If the words to not specifically EXCLUDE then therefore they must include as the norm in policies is to say you are covered for everything except .......

If the except does'nt except then I'm covered. I should'nt need to phone my company an ask 'Am I insured to go to Scotland?' as that is not an exclusion of my policy.

Still

V interesting question. The NFU policy has the same words, but when Puff spoke to them they specifically said it wasn't covered.

Cheers,

Greg
