Question

What is the average life of a Impreza engine. Assuming regular service, oil change, etc is carried out.

What is the mileage reading on your vehicles, and how many miles have you done since it was purchased?

Only reason I am asking is because I have seen a few cars in the autotrader, where the mileage is around 90-100K on a N/P reg, and the prices of the car is very low, which has tempted me to have a second look and possible buy the Impreza.

I know someone who has 134k on a 95 4 door turbo. Followed service intervals and replaced when needed. No major problems so far.

105K on M reg and no probs in the 2 1/2 years I've had it, except a minor oil leak and new rear brake discs. 90K service is a killer...30K (fluids & plugs etc) + 45K (cambelt) together...ouch!!

I read a link on this forum not long ago of an American guy who was devistated that he had blown the engine on his my94. His mileage reading was just over 300,000 miles!
If this guy was telling the truth, then that's bl00dy impresive!!!

I've done 122,000 miles in my MY95. Only problems have been a slight oil leak (which is being fixed at the next service) and had the cam/crank(?) sensor replaced at 86,000. Other than that there's no problem at all. Still very smooth and quick.

I'm expecting to keep it for a few years yet and to be honest it's probably not worth me selling it with the way prices are at the moment. It will probably end up being a family heirloom . When I need to get a new car we will probably change my wifes MX3 so I can get a P1 and she can have the MY95...

I would not worry. As long as it has a FSSH you should be OK...
