Just discovered (after 12 months!) that my MY94 uk Impreza Turbo has an alloy bonnet and bootlid.Only discovered this after lifting my mates bonnet and couldnt believe the difference in weight, I thought it was only the RA ones that had lightweight panels?
The car has only had 1 previous owner and he was an old guy so i dont think he would of replaced them, anybody help?

Hi Col,

Your correct, the alloy bonnet is considerably lighter than the standard one - on my STI Model I, I was suprised by just how much, compared to my mother-in-laws UK Impreza.

As far as I was aware, a standard UK model should have the heavier version - only the special editions ( STI/RB5 etc etc ) came with an alloy bonnet. I'm sure someone will correct me, though !

BTW : Don't lean to hard on the bonnet when polishing them ... !

I thought that the WRX had an Alloy bonnet as well? Car's not here currently, so I can't go out with a magnet and check.....

Does the RB5 have an alloy bonnet?

Some very early UK cars had alloy bonnets, saw a white UK estate with one about a year back. believe at the time it may have been a homologation thing, but stand to be corrected

Guys....fyi the MY01 definitely has an ally bonnet aswell.

i have kept all the brochures from when the impreza came to the uk, the 94 car had the alloy bonnet, i think it was from 95 they had a steel one, i remember seeing a sticker in the brochure saying that they no longer come with alloy bonnets

My UK94 has an alloy bonnet, but then it also has Series McRae interior and wheels ...

Very strange, but its an Ex-Subaru demo car
(I know, I know...don't buy an ex demo!)
