Just typed in "ECU", set the dates to cover everything, got no hits This can't be right!
Also, can the default dates be set to something more useful than Jan02 to Jan 02? something like Jan02 to TODAY!
Cheers

Dan, search only allows searching of thread titles, so it's quite possible that none contain the word ECU.
Jess, some people are never happy

Sorry about sounding unhappy about it, SEARCH is cool, it just doesn't seem to have been thought through properly.... flame suit.
Search strings should cover three letters really.

Firstly, apologies re the dates.. this is case of damned if you do, damned if you don't. As we don't have the spare time to get the full search up and running just yet this was launched as an interim measure.
3 letter words are excluded to speed up the search and to reduce the size of the index / speed of indexing new posts, etc.
It's a 6 of one half a dozen of the other, but the most important thing is the speed and stability of the forums rather than ignoring all that to support the searching of 3 letter words.
The full search facility will be available in time.
All the best
