Question

Chaps,
You're all clever so could you tell me what are the pro's and cons of buying a car that's had damage recorded and then been repaired.
I'm looking at a W reg sports car which is about £4000 under list price because it's had very light panel damage, or at least that's what the advert says, and has Cat D recorded damage.

Is there a way to find out the extent of the original damage?
Will the manufactures warranty still be valid(paintwork included?)
How hard will the car be to sell on?
Will this have any effect of insuring the car?

Cheers in advance for your replies, it seems like a really good bargain, but as is always the way, it probably isn't, but I can't think of any car I've owned that hasn't had something repaired on it at some time or other so maybe it's not such a bad investment??

Regards

Dave

Dave,
If you are talking specifically about Universal Salvage they will ahve a repair sheet which should be obtainable.
I bought an Audi S2 off them a couple of years ago and was true to its description.
Did not affect insurance (although damage was not even recorded).
The car wa soutside its manu warranty so I can't comment.
I presume that if it is within the std warranty period, as long as repairs are made to the manu spec, then the warranty is still valid?
If you really want to go for it then get an independent engineer to inspect it for you. Better still, one that offers liability for "unseen" faults that come to light at a later stage.
