Evo v P1 v Ferrari 355
#1
went for a burn the other day with a mate who has a p1 and his mate who has an f355. we went down to macclesfield and then along the cat&fiddle road to buxton. it was my first trip along the aformentioned road. wow!
we all went for it when we could, which included being baited by some nutter on a superbike! the road confirmed my reasons for buying my car .
the p1 is an impressive machine, it only has a few mods: scoobysport back box, bump steer mod and ap 6 pots, but on the road it was probably as quick as my evo, although he did know the road a bit better than me .
the ferrari was simply gorgeous, with an engine note to die for. i had a drive of it, and have to say that it didn't feel that quick, and on the drive it was left for dead by my evo and the p1, but then IMHO driving as fast as possible from a to b is not the point of owning a ferrari.
ferraris and evo/scoobies are like chalk and cheese, they are completely different beasts and are not really comparable. i love the speed and power of my evo, but you just have to listen to a ferrari above 4000rpm to be swept off your feet!!
makes for a good pic, dont you think?

Nice! The Cat and Fiddle road is awesome, but watch out for the helicopters and BMW riding ****'s
Last time I was up there, some guy in an F40 flew past, and 2 guys in a Westie shot out of the car park after them

I've been baiting bikers on that road since I could walk, but it's not as much fun these days because of the afore mentioned ****'s on BMW's. The chances are the Ferrari driver wasn't going as hard as the car is capable, because if you don't know it it is a scary road, I've seen F355's strut their stuff, and IMO there is no way a std EVO or P1 would keep up with a well driven one on that road. SDB should be able to comment, he's driven David Yu's spider.

Ace picture and a top bit of road. You've got to be careful to pick your time up there cos it's flappin dangerous when the holiday makers and sightseers are pootling along at 30 mph and you're closing fast on them! But an early summer morning when there's no traffic =
There's also a couple of wicked shortcuts (as if heading towards the forest) if you get stuck behind some slow traffic.

Try it at night, the plane doesn't operate then and the police snooker championship is usually on
Do it properly and you can have your discs glowing nicely by the 30 zone when you drop into Macc.
Time was when on a nice day you would see upwards of 100 top class bikers on the Rainow bend and by the phone box at the bottom. Now you're lucky if you see a dozen, thanks to the BMW ****'s and the blanket 50mph coverage. All because half a dozen bikers have died having fun over the last 15 years. I don't see them closing the local reservoirs and rivers every time somebody drowns fishing (50+ in the last 10 years)

Suprised it didn't feel that quick. Seem to remember reading a full test of a 355 against a 911 turbo. Both hit 100 mph in around 10 seconds. That would leave a standard Scoob or EVO for dead. Surely grip around the bends is as good as well, with great handling, very low centre of gravity and wide tyres. Where would it lose out as I know the brakes are top as well? Was it very wet with lots of tight corners where traction out of said corners was a big issue?

Must admit to having a leg wobbler on there after pushing a little too hard round some of the bends one morning but fortunately got the back end to stop fishtailing! Pre-scooby days of course! But it's a great feeling when you get a good run over the entire length.
