Plenty of the specialists on here can get parts imported from Japan. Your example is good as Subaru dealers arent suppose to supply parts and the pistons on the STIs are uprated and not the same as UK ones and they only fitted to the STIs. They are fitted to the P1 but I would think that they would have to come from Japan as well. Most of the parts however are readily available or interchangable. The problems are the special bits like ally bonnets which the later UK classics didnt have. Turbos can be brought off the shelf and a good chance to buy an uprated one if it goes. If you intercooler goes you coudl always fit a FMIC. There are so many upgrade bits that if soemthing goes its a chnace to replace it with something better (and more expensive ). Dont forget there have been stories of UK cars being off the road waiting for parts to be imported.

There are plenty of smashed and mashed ones around as well.

cheers

chrisp

Hello, this topic has probably been done before but i would like some info as im considering getting a Impreza.

What id like to know is how east are spare parts obtained for models such as the RA, STI version 3+, Sti type r etc.. Not just service parts such as oil filters, fuel filters spark plugs etc.. but also items such as replacment turbos, intercoolers or suspension parts.

Is there somewhere that such parts are easily obtained or do they need to be imported from japan?? i havnt got a clue thats why im asking.

Any help welcomed

Mozza

Most parts are interchangeable with other models. Arent late model UK cars fitted with the same size intercooler as the sti anyway, although not painted silver...And there are plenty of wrecked ones in breakers yards im sure. Parts arent too difficult to obtain.

There are plenty of third party specialists out there who can service and supply parts for Japanese domestic Imprezas. Checkout the list on the IWOC site at

http://www.iwoc.co.uk/jpservice.html

If anyone has any others to add please let me know.

Thanks

Steve
