I'd suggest the first thing you do is get a test drive of a new WRX, and an old turbo, see which one you like best, opinion varies around here. Then look for the one you prefer.
There are normally a few MY99/MY00 for sale in the private section around your price range if you look to go for the older model.
The price you have been quoted looks quite good, I imported my MY00 myself, so have not used the company you are looking at.

You can have my UK MY00(Jan 2000/V) later this year for £16K no probs It's currently <10K miles and immaculate - and it'll probabaly average no more than 400 miles per month until then.

Talking

For that kind of money there's no discussion - buy abroad (MY01 shape is OK??)

I got mine from Subaru Vilvoorde in Brusels, and there's a good one in Holland, the other guys will tell you the name. It's easy to do it yourself, and you get a weekend away to collect it.

Cool

the older Turbo has a cult following and the new WRX most people find a bit ugly...

You then have the usual Import problems which aren't major, but the Fuel octan and insurance and parts and servicing etc...

Currently if I had 15K to spend on an Impreza I'd probably go for errmmm...

I dunno actually I can see your problem..

I'd go and test drive both and see which you like most... the idea of a brand new car that no one else has thrashed is rather appealing, especially if it is an Impreza and only for 16K.... but the older Impreza is a lovely car...

Question

Hi All,

Need some advice. I currently drive a Saxo VTS (please no comments), and I am looking to purchase an Impreza Turbo later this year. I have a price of about 15-16K to play with. I have noticed that from scooby dealers I can pick up a 98/99 standard turbo with about 30k on the clock. However, I have been trawling through the web and found several importer websites. The best so far was
