Adaptive ECU
#1
Hi,
Can anyone tell me just how long it takes the ECU tp 'adapt' to varying driving styles and/or differing fuel quality?
I have heard that an ECU reset may be required if poor quality fuel is used, but this kinda makes a mockery of the 'adaptive' in 'adaptive ECU'.
Of course it could be that someone was wrong when they told me the ECU adapted to varying driving styles?
Anyone let me know the real spec?
PS - it's a MY01 WRX

Note : This is all pre-MY01
The pre MY01 adapted on fuel quality ie. swopping between 95 and 97 RON. Normally only took a few miles 20-30. I am guessing but I would have thought the MY01 is likely to be very similar. There is a fabled ECU reset which can be done by a dealers select monitor or by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes.
Like I said though I dont knwo about the MY01. Pete Croney at Scoobysport has an MY01 so he would be probably in the best position to answer your question.
The pre MY01 stuff can be read here

Why not try for yourself - I'm sure the my01 also has the green and black connectors under the dash
Check out mrtrally.com.au.
I do it every 2 months and always find an improvement in the top end....until my town driving dampens it down again.
