I found a really good australian site and thought people might be interested in this. It's basically making 499hp at all-four-wheels on the TRP Dyno Dynamics dyno on 42 psi boost. It has 3½-inch off the turbo, leading into 3 inch with a single cat and Hi-Tech muffler), a ram-pod air filter, a front-mount air-to-air intercooler, an IHI VF22 turbo and a MicroTech MT8 programmable injection system and uses 880 cc injectors with a 7.5:1 CR. It obviously used a sequential gearbox! Awesome or what?? The main question on my mind is how does the no. 3 big end hold together???

--------------At the time of our photos, so too were the brakes. Thankfully, though, these have recently been upgraded to MY99 4-pot fronts-------------

So what! Mines got 501bhp at the wheels.

I've got a Peco big bore exhaust, massive dump valve and a 18inch bass boom box.

Beat that.

2.4 litres eh, not bad.... Mind you, when my 2.5 litre stroker kit gets fitted, I should be able to beat that ! Funny how all these kits are developed in Australia, I thought we led the way in Subaru tuning over here ?

if you read the article, it isn't using a IHI VF22 turbo, but a custom Turbonetics roller-bearing T60/70.

impressive,

not sure I believe the atw the wheels quote.

dos that mean he is getting 600ish at the flywheel?

my only concern was the vf22 running 42psi.

but christian has answered that one.

btw.

I would be surprised if you get 2.5 litres by stroking.

If you stroke a 2.2 you only get 2.33, you will need a slight over bore and a non standard stroke, which compromises the intergrity of the crank and even then might just get you 2.4 litres.

Here's a list of what I should be getting (finances willing !)

nitrided and machined crankshaft
billet steel conrods
forged pistons
anti friction coating on the piston skirts
rings
bearings
seals
stainless steel laminated head gaskets
head studs
full closed deck block face
heavy duty custom diesel liners (sleeves/bores)
bore and hone
balance bottom end
compression ratio of your choice
blue printed crankshaft oil clearences
sand blast block
labour to assemble short motor

This is based on the EJ22 block, I could also get a 2.4 block for slightly less, or a 2.2 for the EJ20 block. If I actually get the block, and I'm happy with it, I might consider selling through the business... not that many are prepared to go this far in modifying their cars !
