Question

Got a few questions for anyone that is interested. Before any of the Moderators get on my back this was all available from a Japanese carshow site.

I have stumbled on some pictures which I found on a English text version of a Japanese carshow site. There are 3 images one exterior and two interior shots.

What might be more interesting is that there was three supposed WRX cars listed with the same pics but with different specs. Also no car with a bonnet scoop is shown, could now be when Subaru starts using a Front Mount Intercooler?
Or is the use of a base model Impreza badged as WRX hiding even more radical changes for the WRX and STi Models?

Front

cockpit

interior

Have I got it wrong or have the look of the lights been changed?

Regards ian

Not exactly radical is it ? Along with bonnet scoop, rear wing is also absent.

Which site did you find these on ?

It's possible that what you have in the picture is a minor facelift for the base models, the headlights do look different that's for sure.

If you look at the web site then the same picture is used for all three 'WRX' models - power ranges from 155PS.

I assume (hope) that we are therefore seeing a picture of the base model

Hmm.. so the face lift equals:

STi7 grill without the badge and STi7 headlight cluster...

And looks like the GX (it is a GX right?) has 16" alloys for 2003... maybe..

Well, it is certainly not an impressive face lift, I was hoping for something a bit more exciting than that!!!!

According to Here Its only running 15" wheels!

Also it is stating the power as 155PS which is about that of the Sport/GX IIRC?

I am inclined to believe that if this is a facelift then it is a base model.

It looks like it has proper seats as well for people without hemi-spherical backs. Looks like 'classic' shape owners can sleep easy if thats the 'facelift' then. And Ford. And SEAT. And Honda.

This looks like the photo of the US Model WRX without the optional rear spoiler. That has 15 inch wheels I think, as well as 2 pot brakes

So IMHO, I don't think it's the facelift model..

Actually, that picture is also going around the i-club here in the States. The name WRX is going to be used for the JDM Impreza sedans regardless of engine/drivetrain combo. As you folks said, pretty boring facelift, but not the major one coming in US MY04, supposedly being done by Prodrive.
P.S. the US WRXs come with 16" wheels and Bridgestone RE92s(crappy) as standard, as seen on my wagon

Don't like that Euro front bumber set-up at all!!!
Personally see nothing wrong with the current look of the STi....
Hopefully the changes that actaully occur are well received this time...

A couple of UK dealers have indicated recently that the only major change to the front of the car will be the inclusion of the STI headlights.

Wink

Hopefully we can then retro-fit the sti lights to WRX's without all the wiring loom gubbins, hence preserving the market value of our beloved FUGLYs!

I went for the Prodrive headlights which IMHO look far better that any of the other options including the new STI style lights.

That piccy is of the Type Euro, which is styled and fettled by Porsche of all companies. They've done the styling (or at least the work experience tea boy in the office did), and its got porka brakes and stuff. Looks pants IMO.

Am I right in assuming that the sales of the new shape have been better than the last of the classic MY cars?

If so then all I can see them doing is some very minor changes to the exterior, like when the MY97 came out. A slight reshaped light design I would say is probable but not to the extent of the new car over the classic. Anyway this is all speculation, I suppose we will all find out come September.
