Top Prize UK Service Note
#1
Hi,
I know a lot of you here have bought tickets, so I thought it best to inform you of this....
Over the past 48 hrs we have experienced numeruous amounts of downtime from our hosts, *********.
Over the past 48 hrs the messages received upon entering our URL have varied from plain "file not found", network and disk problems to a message implying our account is not paid up, the latter of which is obviously the most offensive, because it is likely to give people the impression were going out of business.
I would like to assure everyone that either has bought a ticket, or has tried and got error messages and no site displayed that we are going strong, the problem lies with ********* and their so called ".net compatibility" which isnt anything of the sort!.
We are currently sorting a new host, but to do this, we have to get ********* to release our domain name first, and as we have sent about 8 mails over the past 48 hrs with no reply to any of them, this is not easy.
If anyone has any concerns, please feel free to mail:
info@topprize.co.uk
and we wil do our utmost to sort them out.
Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
(Apologies)

Buying new cars at one price and selling raffle tickets to atleast twice the value of the car - its difficult to see how you would go out of business! Just wish I had thought of it first

Boost,
I know you werent having a go, but everyone needs to bear in mind:
1) VAT
2) Credit Card Fees
3) Advertising (varies on mag, site, etc, but NOT cheap)
4) solicitors who think we have money trees
5) printers
6) designers
7) I wont go on, this could take all night, but u get the picture!

Still works out a very nice profit though.
I also thought you werent supposed to slag off companies on here due to the legal situation.
If youve got problems sort them out.
Chip.

If you think you can run a prize draw at less profit margin, go for it! An advert in EVO ain't cheap, nor is other advertising. Plus scoobynet banners . As mentioned, dreaded VAT too, though I guess the prize is supplied VAT free, but even so 17.5% before you start anything. Then wages to pay. Etc.
I think your namecalling above is offensive and potentially libellous, so please edit.
Cheers
Nick.

Talk to Nominet and say your e-mails to (hmm, counts the asterisks and guesses) Fasthosts are going unanswered. Then e-mail fasthosts and tell them that unless you receive a reply within 24 hours you will be asking Nominet to retag the domain.

You're right, it isn't fasthosts (just checked the DNS data). Still, as you say, the approach should work (it worked with UK2Net for me). Particularly if you explain to Nominet that you don't mind paying the transfer out fee, you just want to get it sorted quickly.
