Default Fuel pressure check

Hello
I have a 1997 Subaru Impreza L EJ22. 5speed Manual Loss of acceleration.
I want to check fuel pressure but don’t know where to hook up the gauge.
This is my guess! Please advise me!

I’m not sure what you mean by both sides,
this is a brand new fuel filter by the way.

That black can is a fuel filter if you test both sides to rule it out .m

It actually won't unfortunately unless it's completely blocked cause even if it was partially blocked the pressure would equalise either side. It's a flow test you need to see is it blocked

It will take longer to achieve pressure if the flow is restricted or blocked

Depends which side you test it. Inlet or outlet and the only problem you have with that is the fpr is still connected. If it is blocked and you test on the inlet it will achieve pressure quickly and the opposite applies for the filter outlet but as said then you have the fpr to account for as it will make the readings incorrect as it is controlling the flow.

At tick over which your top picture is it should be circa 2.4 bar with the vacuum pipe on the regulator which yours must be. Possibly time for a new pump

Are you in the US and is the car non turbo if so that answer of mine is wrong.

It should be between 30-40 psi with the vacuum line on the regulator.

I am in the US. It’s a non-turbo. EJ22E. I have been trying to research the normal pressure but unsuccessful. But my instincts say it’s running low and possibly pointing towards the pressure regulator ??I can hear the fuel pump kick on. I think location of the regulator is on my list.

I think you are correct. My fuel pressure regulators vacuum line was connected in both pictures. I realized that now. When I removed the vacuum line I didn’t see any gas leaks.I did notice when I removed the vacuum line my engine rpm changed. Does this sound like the regulator is ok?

Is the engine revving up when driving in 4/5th with your foot off the clutch? How much travel have you off the floor before your clutch starts to engage?

I can only answer the first part with yes. Foot off the clutch rpms will go up and the speed creeps up.

Sounds possibly like your clutch maybe going alright, are the revs corresponding to the vehicle speed? Irrespective of that your fuel pressure is too low at idle.

The rpms will go way up and the speed not so much. I may have to take it in. I am confused how the clutch and low fuel pressure are correlated. This whole night mare started with a crank no start months ago. New spark plugs, air and fuel filter and cleaning throttle body, map sensor and changing the crank sensor 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

The two aren't related. You have 2 different issues from the sounds of it, clutch and fuel pump

I had a wiring issue and ecu issue. You can imagine the headache that was. Which problem is the cause, what do you replace etc. Remember these cars are getting on a bit, I'm going down a different engine route on mine and so many pipes and other pieces need replacing.

It’s looking like the clutch. Going from 1st-2nd is a struggle. Rpms rev and speedometer barely moving. Ugh not sure If it worth fixing. Going to take it somewhere soon. I’m in Seattle, any recommendations for garages?

Update on the clutch. Looks like it needs to be replaced. Waiting for second quote but the first guy said if I buy the parts he would do it for $900. 🤦🏽‍♀️
