Default Looking for a Scooby…

Hi Everyone,

Looking to come back to the world of a Subaru - having owned 5 in the past, and a blobeye near 4 years back looking for some advice before I jump the gun again.

Looking for a BlobEye, maybe Hawkeye but not sure, as only owned the Blobs and older before…anything decent for sale at a decent price?

Also who are the recommended specialists people use in the midlands? As I recall my last Scooby needed a gearbox rebuild and I ended up at TegSport in Carnforth - and was not overly happy with the service, and my box was still crunching after I got the car back…so trying to do my research into who comes recommended these days before I jump and get one.

Thanks

For service TDR ,Tsb garage is good to and cheaper
Buy 2.0l , any shape.
Those are poor cars in oem shape ,if You will mod it buy non special edition ,spec c is good start but not for a recent asking prices.

A fresh jdm import , forged 2.5 are a good option , or a 2 litre twin scroll , spec c seems to be quite popular at the moment , Harlow jap autos have a few in , torque gt , as in previous posts it’s about rust , rear arches inner and outer being a big issue , and condition 👍

With owning 5 in the past you obviously have experience with them, just remember the average Subaru out there is a money pitt and you'll forever be putting things right, even when you think everything is right you'll keep on finding things that need to be done. Just remember the age of them now, most are well beyond their shelf life, if i were buying again i would go over the car with a fine tooth comb, corrosion is one of the biggest battles you have with these cars, along with worn bushes, bearings and brakes if it's not been looked after, the average Impreza will have had a hard life for over 15 years as thats what they were designed for and a lot of people use them that way.

It's not trying to put you off, it's just being realistic of what you could be potentially getting into. Try and find one being sold by an enthusiast that can show you a paper trail of all the servicing and parts that have been replaced. really check the underside and the arches well. For servicing in the midlands, TDR at Warwick who are great to deal with, Mark knows these cars inside out and he'll always give you advice and help you to be on the right path for the future.

I enjoy to modify mine and would do it again. ( have 3 steering wheels ,one on a car)
I spent 11k last year,4k previous, think bill will finish around 32k and still have to do underside treatment for 4-5k.
Plus tax is 700 quid a year

For a money i could maybe buy c63s or giulia QV but will have no money left to modify one, will get bored within 2 years than.
