Left over parts worth
Evening all.
so car should be ready tue/wed next week. Builder has said he’s happy to make an offer on parts that came off ? Car only done 42000 2016 sti
vf48 turbo
tmic
injectors
air box and piping
fuel rails
Rods/pistons / crank ( paperweights lol)
oil pan and pick up
fuel pump
turbo hose
rcm u/p
old exhaust headers
I guess main money is in turbo and tmic.
he will assemble everything and said will offer to just deduct of invoice for build.
what would this be worth if I could be bothered to see individual/ private etc ? Or what should he take off bill.
my motto is a price where both parties are happy and one doesn’t feel stiched up !

I think check ebay or Marketplace etc to gauge fair value....average the values out over 3 turbo's if you see 3 turbo's for sale for example.
Bear in mind that whilst the mileage is fairly low, none of the parts are reconditioned I doubt.
As the saying goes....one mans trash is another mans treasure, so yes, you should get a reasonable amount off the invoice.
If it was me I'd want north of £1,200...but saving all the hassle of selling on ebay, timewasters, parts hanging around......comes at a price I suppose.

looking around the turbos vary but the tmic seems a solid £400 and turbo about the same. So I guess 1k or a little bit more would be good for both parties.

That's the thing, at least you know roughly where you stand.
It needs to work in your favour ideally, ie, make sure he takes the money off at the top of the invoice, rather than at the bottom of the invoice where everything is including the VAT.
That way it minimises your exposure to VAT.
To explain in ball park figures.....
This works in your favour :
Build £5000
Less your parts of £1,000 discount
equals £4,000 + VAT
Total to pay £4,800
Or, this doesn't work in your favour :
Build £5,000 + VAT
equals £6,000 to pay.
Less your parts equals £5,000 to pay.

thinknit will be slightly more than that though.
was full build inc crank, machining , new rcm oil pump , fuel pump , issues with new fuel rail hoses , needed more pipe work for turbo , fitting process west fmic , mot ,
dreading the bill. Lol

2007 Hawkeye STI.
At 48k miles HG's went, so HG's and full rebuild.
Then at 88k, the block cracked at the top of one of the cylinders, so brand new block and fresh build again!
Here's my thread all about it :
