Default 1996 Prodrive?

Hi guys, new here so hello!

My dad bought a 1996 subaru impreza turbo, Prodrive edition back in 1997, its been parked up since 2001.
looking for some help, its low mileage original condition, got the gold plate near gearstick, I would like help to verify what's different on this model, and who is the best place to work on the car in UK. it starts, runs and drives fine has a little rust on back arch.
i tried subaru uk with no help and took it prodrive uk, and there help come at a price of £1200!!!! So im here now hoping for youre help, which would be amazing.

thank you

Sorry somehow this post got stuck in a moderation queue so nobody could see it. Fixed that.

My memory is sketchy on this. I seem to think it was a dealership offered upgrade which had a decat centre section and ECU swapped for one with a "Prodrive tune" which together added a few extra bhp. Hard to quantify how much as these in factory tune often dyno'd a lot higher than their supposed 208bhp (around 230bhp).

If the car had the tweed (non sport) seats from factory which the early ones had (probably earlier than yours), there was an dealership offered option to upgrade them to the winged sports seats.

Performance wise it came with Prodrive intercooler Y pipe, Prodrive back box, remap SP ecu by Prodrive.

Here's a 1999 Prodrive brochure

https://impreza.co/wp-content/upload...r-Brochure.pdf

As for where to take it too depends on where you live. Many Impreza specialists around.

I have a couple of roadtests of the earlier Prodrive Edition Imprezas. They had 240ps which tallies with the 237bhp of the later RB5 / Prodrive Performance Pack model/dealer option.

You might find that your 96 model had the upgraded suspension as part of the Prodrive edition as they were often specced together, whereas the later PPP was often sold alone (without interior, suspension or extra bodywork bits).

What was £1200 for ?

With the console plaque, I expect it is a "Prodrive complete car" with the following:
Exterior Package
Performance Package
Driving Enhancement Package
Interior package (black trim)
which would have been selected at purchase and not as upgrades afterwards.

I had the following packages fitted to my MY97 after purchase
Interior
Exterior
Driving Enhancement

The "package" rear spoiler was further upgraded to a genuine V5 version (personal import)

Thank you all for you're help! massive appreciation! I've attached a copy of prodrives official email 'help'

the car does have all the extras as above^ thank you, we are in North Yorkshire and would like really somewhere recommend for bodywork it needs rear arch, and lacquer peal on boot, then get it in for full major service mot etc
Its got 66k on clock and everything is completely original including the original ramair filter as mentioned above^
would this prodrive part make it more desirable to a collector or is this still the usual 22B P1 etc?

All and any help is much appreciated thank you

From their "Frequently Asked Questions" section of the website

Q: I would like advice about my Subaru road car.

A: It is more than a decade since we created our last performance parts for Subaru road cars and we do not provide parts or support.
The cars and the packs were sold through Subaru UK and we are unable to offer any advice on the technical details on these cars or confirm whether or not the vehicle has had a Prodrive modification.
We would suggest contacting one of the Subaru owners clubs or forums, as there are usually many people within these who have an in depth technical knowledge of the cars.

LOL I think that's a long winded way of saying "Go do one"

They probably got fed up 10 years ago of people with a stick on P1 badge asking for details of their P1 !

Glad that North Yorkshire has an unusual classic with a keeper that wants to get it back to original condition !

I'm East of York but can't recommend a body shop as I haven't had my few minor bits of lacquer peel done yet ( no rust!). When I can afford it, I go to KT Green for things I wouldn't trust anyone else with - they did a very reasonable deal with me for another cam belt change last year. (Last one was only 6000m ago but 5 years had passed).
