Default Bought another toy

Looking forward to the better weather so I can get the Forester out to play but I've also gone and bought another toy.
1999 Evo 6 GSR with only 20k miles, been in storage and last mot 2007.
I've always wanted an Evo 6 so when this popped up through a friend of my sons at a decent price I had to have it.
I'm going to keep this one standard tho unlike the Foz!
Gonna go through it over the next few weeks service ,cam belt and waterpump ,brakes ,tyres ,caliper and wheel refurb amongst a few other things👍

A few pics before i washed it. Ive not polished it,just a quick snow foam.

I had an Evo 6 GSR in the past and i really enjoyed it, they are a lot better built than Subaru's and the paint is much better from the factory. They are so refined when you drive them normally but they pick up really quickly when you want them too, enjoy your project.

'much better' if you can manage to keep a rear floor in them.............in general the EVO's are harsher and not as useable day to day IMO, older ones were a better base for competition / track cars
trouble now is a lot of the "good ones" manage to leave your shopping on the floor when you use the boot at Tesco's...........

The first thing I inspected before buying it was the rear end/ chassis legs as I'm aware or the rust issues they have.
This car was a uk supplied car and was underseald from new so with that in mind and the fact its only done 20k miles and been in dry storage since 2007 its in pretty good shape

I've been using this a bit lately and to be honest it does nothing for me I much prefer a subaru but I suppose they are a good investment so I don't regret buying it 😂

As Clarkson used to say , drive the scooby to the track and drive the evo round the track , good investment yes as every thing is going up , they are very capable cars but I heard the interiors are not great ? Mpg worse than a scooby , plus you have no scooby burble and they lack character , but most things lack character v a scooby 👍😁

Maybe ive just been spoilt with subarus I've had them since 2004 and my current one is just over 520bhp so the Evo just feels slow and boring!
plus I now daily a mk 7.5 golf R estate which is also a very capable car.

People sometimes moan about the scooby interior , it’s never bothered me , i think it’s fine , the only thing would be nice would be cruise control on the sti , expensive to retro fit and a bit more info mpg etc , my monaro loads of character, and to enjoy it needs a proper driver input , my 2010 maloo lacks character, it’s all done for you and more vague to drive ,great car to look at , again my gtr , v quick and v easy to go quick but limited driver input . Probably best it is an auto as I don’t think I could change gears quick enough 😂 I just find modern ish but old school just more fun 👍😁

that’s interesting! I also had an evo for a while (7RS), and it was capable, but it just didn’t feel as fun to drive as the Subaru, so I got rid after about a year

If your complaining about a Subaru interior, my question would be why are you looking at the interior look out of the windscreen that's where all the action takes place
