Question Hawkeye - Rear lights won't sit "flush"

2006 Hawkeye WRX PPP - Standard Rear Lights (Lexus "style")

Hey all - I've replaced my rear light seals in an attempt to rid the boot of a small amount of water. I noticed that the outer tab on the rear of the lights (both sides) had snapped off before my removal so they have been off the car before. This is the part that fits into the grommet which then sits in the rear wing of the car.

I've moved them all around and offered them up from different angles and for the life of me I can't get them to sit flush on the winged corners where they reach around into the rear wings. I've ensured that the bulbs and harness are ouf of the way and I've tightened them as much as I am willing to do. Has anyone else had the same?

I am considering Blob STi lights in any case frankly as I never liked the Lexus look - should these have the same "tabs" that could fit into my rear wing grommet? I've seen a few on ebay and I don't see clear tabs on any of them. Unsure what they look like new and therefore if they are broken/missing.

Any ideas gratefully received - I'm MoreThanFreeman, thank you for reading.

Cheers
Al

No problem, I wouldn’t have thought they’d make that much of a difference but guess they do?

Thanks for the headsup and the screnshots/vid.

Do you mean the white rectangular multiplug has a different shape/pins between Hawk female and Blob male? I had read that if you got 04/05 STi they should be plug and play. Poop
Is it different for your/JDM or something or am I just plain wrong on that. I don't mind you saying yes, I'd rather know.

I was looking at these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225388557337 (not mine/shilling etc. if this isn't allowed please let me know)

its possible to buy them for 100 quid maybe a little more

no white socket with pins should be the same,on mine round plugs with bulbs wont fit blob sockets, maybe somebody played with them in the past ,swapped top to a bottom maybe its an jdm hawk issue, not sure.
it should not cost You more to buy lights with wirings anyway
