Default 19 Year Old Insurance Subaru STi

Hello, Recently bought a Subaru WRX STi as it was priced extremely reasonable, however I am struggling to get quotes on this car, does anyone have any advice/ company's that would insure me at 19 years old. My previous car being a Subaru WRX 2002 was fine to insure and that was at 18,

Anything would help,
Thanks

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure you have to be over 22 or 23 for gary to be able to insure you?
My son had an 2003 STI last year when he was 19 ,I will ask him who he was with and report back.

Oh I completely miss read that at the start, thought he was saying the car was 19 years old, not that he was 19.

I can’t remember if I was with admiral or direct line at the time, but when I was 19 I bought a Sierra xr4x4 without checking if I could get insured on it. A couple of mates dads had the same car and they said I wouldn’t get insured on it, but luckily one of the above companies did insure me (good price as well) but that was a long time ago.

I do now always, and my kids too, check I can get insurance on a car before I buy it though.

Is this serious ? I was looking at Chitroens at 19 to keep my insurance down.

i would definitely have considered marrying a 50 year old and going as a named driver to be Scooby driver.

I doubt it would be cheaper if you were a named driver than being the main driver. Insurance companies cottoned on to the fronting thing ages ago.

Yeah but some companies apparently haven't hoped on the trend, don't ask me how I know

I insured my eldest boys car in my name with him as a named driver. The following year with 1 years ncb on the policy it went up, it was cheaper for my son to start a fresh policy as main driver with me as named driver WITH THE SAME COMPANY! don’t know how they worked that out.

My youngest passed his test a year ago this week. I think I had the car insured with Hastings in my name, but they would not insure him on it when he passed his test so had to change insurance company for his car (it is only a Mazda 2 sport 1.5)
Did comparison site quotes in my name with him as named driver, while he did it at the same time but the main driver as him.
The quotes came back and he got it £400 cheaper than in my name. Insurance is a very strange thing when it comes to numbers.

Insurance is very weird, however I can understand why with me being 19 years old I know quite a few people who have already binned there cars and the cars that were written off were cars like Fiesta's. Not good look on the rest of us.

No, unfortunately the world is full of incompetent *****. But then there is no consistency with insurance companies either.

As I mentioned earlier, my first car, a mk2 Jetta, was £800 first year insurance. Following year I was your age with a years ncb and a Sierra xr4x4 (bit before your time but McRae rallied one before Subarus and they actually had 555 livery long before Impreza ever did) was £480 a year. It got stolen and torched, as many performance cars did back then.

before getting the Mazda, my son got bought a 125cc motorcycle of the finest chinesium.
insurance for him was £500. I asked what it would be with me as a named rider on his policy, and it went up to £800! Bearing in mind I have had a full bike license for 22 years, never had a claim and the insurance for my triumph tiger 800 is £75 fully comp a year.

I had trouble when I was 22 with my first impreza, ended up paying 2.5k in a full payment back then, I would call Adrian Flux, Keith Michael's & 1st central, online might not be any good for your circumstances
