OEM CAT VALUES?
I understand that OEM cats (in downpipes, etc) are currently fetching significant wedge? If not for the whole pipe (returning modded cars to OEM status), then at least for the precious metals value of the cat itself.
Is this correct?
Are there any places, such as on Facebook, where one could get a valuation/offload said item, etc.?
Cheers

I sold an old rotten cat I had on eBay, I tried the scrappy they offered me next to nothing, rung around a few cat recycling places and they offered rubbish money. Whacked it on eBay and sold for triple the price lol
I'd put it on auction then let it sell to highest bidder, it's the honeycomb cells that have all the pricey metal on, don't forget to include part codes, that's how you can workout value.
Believe there's websites for it but they charge for viewing prices.

Yep, I'm aware of the importance of the code.
I have a MY99/00 GC8 OEM downpipe (with the O2 sensor in it) in excellent condish -- I'll check its 4-digit code tonight.
Thanks.

The last quote I had was about a month ago. £400 for a 2004 wrx downpipe. Prices have dropped massively, which is strange as I would've thought the current global financial crisis would have the opposite effect. In the past they were going for £600-700.
No he's saying prices have dropped. With pandemic they went insane. Might be worth more to someone restoring a classic.

There's 2 parts to that one, so double the money, depending on codes, it's weird you can get some Impreza cats look the same, but one can have more precious metal in than the other, so worth more. Makes no sense.

Yeah, I know he said prices have dropped from the heady heights (unfortunately)... But they're still better than the days when they were unwanted items and were worth about £30 (if you could get anyone to buy it).
Well, I hope so, anyway.
But, for sure, I've defo missed out on their zenith, so to speak.

Yea my mate sold for under £100 few years ago.
Wouldn't let it go cheap. Can you imagine what they will be worth in a few years when you can't get one and everyone will be restoring them.
As will also fit the P1

I've a blobeye WRX downpipe and up-pipe that I've been sitting on waiting for scrap prices to recover.
I would happily sell them to someone who would use them for around scrap value rather than weigh them in but I've already been down that road and had no end of hassle!
