Baby car seats
#1
I've seen in What Car? that the Mothercare MX Sport car seat (£54.99) came out best for the 9 month to 4 years category (forward facing). Has anyone had any experience of it? What car seats fit (or don't fit) the Scooby well (classic shape)? I'm going off the Recaro Start as it seems poor value.

I bought the MX based on the review, our seven month chap loves it. Will put it in the Scoob MY99 this weekend, I will let you know how the fit is. It is a b!tch to fit in the other car as you need 1 person pulling the belt tight and another to fasten the clip. Not easy to switch cars so I'll buy another if it fits the scoob.

Wife bought a black/grey suede/velvet MAXICOSI from mothercare or toys r us. Our little chap has been in it since 7 months, now 15 months old and loves being in it. You can alter the angle on this whilst it is still in place(ie upright or laid back). It's quite a good choice by her really as it looks good in the classic 5 door. Dead easy to change from vehicle to vehicle. Also feels very secure.

My kids both have recarros - but I wouldn't recommend for kids younger than about 3. After that I think they are the best of the bunch - most of the other 5 year olds I know are just on booster seats !

you need to check out the new "isofix" car seat system.
Britax is releasing right now a universal model.
It will be the new industry standard once marketing begins.
sorry can't offer any links

yeah, I've the MaxiCosi FF grey and black job in the back of our Scoob and my two year old loves it - would recommend this. Very easy to remove and reclines at the flick of a switch.

do you think the MaxiCosi looks a bit like a miniture version of the buckets for driver and passenger, just a different colour??
Must congratulate the wife on this choice.

Maxicosi IS a bucket seat for small people!
Fits in well with Scoobs interior colour scheme too.
Will buy another for my 9month old sometime soon

Nib,
just bought a Britax Rock-a-tot. Wife expecting our 1st in c.2 weeks! Didn't do a lot of research, it fitted easily in the car, it was the right price for a first car seat, bearing in mind it'll probably only last a few months before a bigger seat is needed, and we didn't go for one of these 3-in-1 prams, so it didn't need to fit a pram chassis (although I think you can get one if that's what u want). Not that I would scrimp on a child's safety, but there are plenty of seats at twice the price that don't offer any more protection.

we use the Graco travel system - the pushchair/baby seat thing. Theres a plastic base that stays in the car that you then clip the baby seat into. Works a treat

We bought a Mamas and Papas jobby that clicks into the pushchair and slots onto a base fitted in the car... Piece of cake to fit and very secure... The reason we went for this is that there's no messing around with undoing pushchair straps and then picking baby up and placing in chair and strapping in again...
The added bonus is that we unclick the chair from the car.. carry her in like that and usually she stays fast asleep.. peace and quiet now that is a bonus...
Can someone tell me if the MY01 has the isofix anchor points?
cheers

HKP - Thanks for the advice.
Alpine - I don't beieve the MY01/02 has isofix, & from reports from Which it's not supposed to be that good. Oh & there's a isofix2 now also coming out.
