Evo v Subaru
Hi all, just a random question but why are the evo’s a lot more expensive that there Subaru counterpart? Are they that much better?? We all rave on about the blobeye Jdm sti which is selling for roughly 15g but why is the evo fq 320, 340 etc selling for alot more?

When they came out they were sold in much smaller numbers but also just where the market is.

Oh and the fact they all look hideous and you can't just pull in to fill up at a garage, you would have to sit around and wait for it to charge that's if the charger is available at that time as somebody else may be using it,I suppose you could charge it at home unless of course you live somewhere that chargers cannot be placed.........
Nuff said.

Other fuels are coming out. You don't think the petrol company's are going to let electric cars take over.
They've invested billions in carbon catching technology, which they can then turn into low co2 fuel.
Also to add to that, there's a copper shortage at the mo, so prices have gone up. And electric cars are to blame as they use 80% more copper than a petrol car I think it is. As it normally gets recycled each year there wasn't a high demand for mining it I believe. Adds to the chip shortage.

I had an Evo 6 in the past as well as 2 scoobies, i prefer the Subaru over the Evo for putting a smile on my face. The Evo is a far better build quality, the interior is far better but from the factory i felt the power delivery on the Evo was too smooth, very BMW like and not super aggressive, plus the Evo's sound was a bit soft, it lacked any real sort off sound, The Subaru just feels more like a rally car, yeh the interior is cheaper in comparison, the build quality is probably not as good but it keeps you engaged and with the flat 4 boxer sound you feel like your in a rally car rather than a nice plush sports car if that makes sense, the Evo's are superb cars but if i had to make the choice to put a smile on my face it would be the Subaru.

I haven't driven an Evo, I've only ever experienced a TME and a tuned TME (over 500bhp) from the passenger seat and they were hilariously, addictively fast to the youngster I was back then. I've grown up as a big Subaru fan but the two TME passenger rides I had changed the way I viewed them and I've always liked the Evo since. The first TME I experienced was around the time they came out, a family member bought a red one and an ~9 year old me squeezed into the middle seat of the rear bench for a 5 up family run back home through the Lake District back roads. I'll never forget that drive, by a significant margin it was the fastest car I'd ever been in and not just in straight line speed either although I found the acceleration addictive. My next encounter was at uni when I got a ride out in a white TME that was used for competing so it came with a roll cage and anti-lag, it redefined fast on the roads.
My first Subaru experience was at 10 years old or so, it was a Bugeye STI which the owner of a hotel we were staying at had just bought as a retirement toy. Blue, gold wheels, big wing. After a week drooling over it the owner took me out in it for a proper drive around the Yorkshire Dales and it was absolutely epic, for me the noise edged it over the Evo and it felt like I was in a proper rally car. It's a JDM Bugeye STI I bought 10 months ago. Both cars are amazing because they brought a whole motorsport experience with them that made them more than just the car.
I've since been involved with and seen many Evo's and Subaru's compete in rallying and sprinting, neither seem to be particularly better than the other in terms of speed but it's far easier to get parts for a Subaru due to there being so many more about and a lot of the NA models can be bought as relatively cheap donors for repairing competition cars. If Subaru's were rarer I think they'd go up in price like the Evo's, a lot of the breakers seem to be helping that to happen which is great for values but a shame in that sometimes fixable cars come to their end sooner than might have been necessary.

not everyone likes clarkson , but i think his comments were correct , you would drive to the track in a subaru then use the evo at the track then drive home in the scooby , basically scooby more of a nice road car and not as rally derived as the evo , more comfortable as a daily drive , for years both cars competed on the road and the track each time subaru did a different model then there would be an equal ish evo 😁 the evo was always more money plus needed more money to look after it service wise , the engine was more durable than the 2.5 but so is a chocolate fire guard , the interior is often better in a scooby , the evo being worse on fuel and more rally based , for me it’s always been the scooby and i prefer the 2.5 engine 👍😁 that’s my 2 pence worth 😂

as my three are Fsti , so very different loads of torque full boost at 2200 rpm and still 35 or more mpg 😁👍 plus a higher rev limit that i don’t need due to the torque

I thought you couldn't by the old Evo's in the UK only import them? Hence why there's alot less about. I always wanted a Evo as just preferred the styling but went for an Impreza as easier to get hold of one. Since owning an Impreza i wouldn't swap for an Evo now, much prefer an Impreza.

I think through out the rival time that went on both evo and scooby were evenly matched , it was always interesting to see when one bought a new model out how the other would rival it , a lot of it was around the world rally which i think in those days was a lot more interesting than now 👍 evo would do a Tomi makinen they scooby a richard burns the RB etc

As I thought, so there you go.
250 Evo's compared to the 1000's of Impreza's, hence price distance. I always liked the Evo 5, but as said more than happy with Subaru now, flat for wins the day.
