Default Alarm going off with flat battery

Last night/this morning at 3:30am the alarm started going off on the Subaru (03 blob) so went out in my underpants to be greeted by a neighbour, also in underpants.

unlocked the car with the fob but the alarm continued to go. The only way I could get it to shut up was to de clutter the contents of the wife’s Cooper convertible (battery in boot, boot full of paint tins!) and hook up some jump leads to get some power in the battery (car hasn’t been used for a few weeks but I have started it)

for future reference is there a code on the key pad that will disable the alarm or an easier way to stop it if it happens again? (other than keeping a spanner close by to disconnect the battery instead of at the end of the garden in the shed)

If you're going to disable the alarm you might as well disconnect the battery. You can get these twist connectors so its easier to connect and disconnect, no need for the spanner on it after its installed unless you're removing the battery. On the mini you should be able to jump it from the front. I remember from my Bimmer days there was a connector, they also used to say don't jump it from the battery but I did lol and so did most of the bimmer guys I know lol. Depends on what was easier at the time.

Sounds like the batteries in the alarm are also shot.

Other option is to lock the car with the key and not the fob. On the standard sigma that's what I do on one of my cars that's being rebuilt. I think that keeps immobiliser working, but doesn't turn alarm on, so let's drain on battery.
