was on the A1 this morning i think it was j15 just before you turn off for tha A 14 on the opposite carrage way there was a white transit type van parked up on the hard shoulder with a mast about 10ft sticking out the roof with what looked like a video camera on top pointing at oncoming traffick
anyone seen or know anything about these

There was one of thes on the A9 outside Perth last week. It was night time and he had two floodlights pointing back towards the traffic so you couldnt see the mast. The mast looked like it had a square window on each side of the T at the top. It was marked as a police van and had small blue flahsing lights on it which were activated. You couldnt really see the blue flashing lights until you were up close because of the floodlights.
I dont know what it is, but I suspect it was some type of speedtrap or a relay van for police radio signals.
