JDM Legacy GT 2.0 EJ20 Twinscroll
Hi guys. So ages ago I was looking at getting a wrx sti but ended up opting for a BRZ which I have since heavily modded!
Anyways, now I have a child I'm looking at getting a new daily and looking at Legacy's.
I've been trying to do my research but can't find too much on reliability and longevity of a JDM legacy estate.
I'm set on getting one as I'm after an estate and the only other I like is an A4 estate but i dont fancy going German.
Anyways, what are the long term implications of owning a JDM Legacy? For reference, I will be using the car as a daily and I will only be remapping for UK fuel if required.
I won't be doing any power mods and will be leaving that side of it stock. If anything, just a set of alloys and coilovers.
What are your thoughts? Thanks for all replies in advance.

I haven't owned one but I really like them as a family car.
Having the 2.0 twinscroll engine they should be very reliable.
I am not very familiar with the differences between the various models (GT Spec B, WR Limited, tuned by STi), my favourite is a S402 but they cost mega money and are very rare.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Btw, what have you done the BRZ, they are cracking cars.

As above should be reliable, usual keep services and should last many miles. JDM need to check it's been treated against the elements for our climate. Spec B is bilstien equipped suspension, I'd rather have that on a daily family orientated car than putting any coilovers on it and possibly ruining the ride.

they have very soft piston / rod set as standard and most definitely require mapping to run safely / reliably on UK fuel.........great fun though and very practical

I've had all sorts done. its actually a gt86 but its all subaru the same haha.
ive had it turbocharged so its running about 270bhp on a conservative map.
2.5 inch straight pipe full exhaust system from scorpion, hks and cobra. manifold is part of the turbokit from AVO.
lowered on springs 25mm and ht autos lip kit and rota wheels.
next upgrade will be 4 pot bbk for fronts.

I've run a 2006 Blitzen Estate for the last 2 years which is used as a daily. The first thing I did was get it mapped for UK fuel and it iscurrently running just over 300bhp.
It's a great car and has been very reliable with the exception of a broken starter motor, which was sourced and replaced relatively easily and cheaply. Mine is a manual, five speed box with fairly short gearing - which doesn't make for great motorway driving (luckily I don't do a huge amount). I may have been lucky, but based on my experience I would say go for it. Mine has the STi Genome exhaust upgrade - if you can fnd one with this, it is well worth the effort - sounds great.
Try Charlie at Prodrift Imports https://showroom.ebaymotorspro.co.uk/PRODRIFT-UK - his cars are always really sound.
