Was offered it for the first time by a Mitsibishi dealer recently - I declined, but he really pushed - so I got the impression it's something they make good money on and are told to sell - bit like in Dixons with their warranties. Didnt fill me with confidence of it being a worthwhile buy.

I think that this is 'Gap Insurance'. I got it when I brough my scooby... basically if the car gets written off (god forbid)and the insurance co payout less than the outstanding finance on the car, the Gap Insurance will pay the rest. I got it for free (with a little haggleing) when I brough mine... would have got it anyway though, well worth it IMHO

Couple of years ago when purchasing a car i was offered a "TOP UP " Insurnace that basically met the difference between the overly generous insurance company pay out and the out lay I had actually made on the car. Has anyone got anthing similar with their scoob? Details and experience would be appreciated. Main consideration is the way imports resale value are dropping. Don't want to end up with a big loan and no car.

Been offered it myself in the past, but they gave a ridiculously low valuation for the date when it would be effective.

Its worth a look though.
Are you saying you have this insurance then?
