Default Looking at buying a subaru wrx-s 2009 or newer.

I absolutely love the hatchback shape but want to buy this car to mod cant find much stuff for them on ebay? I'd want a HKS BOV and exhaust , can anyone give me some ideas of where to find mods for these cars before I jump in a buy one , my golf GTI was easy to find exhausts etc for it. And are these cars good? I'm 22 , so all I can insure atm

There's loads of stuff out there, not sure where your looking. Subaru's don't tend to like BOV's and rum poorly.

Funny enough the Hatchback is the one Subaru I don't like. It was build for the masses not Subaru enthusiasts. The Evo's and Impreza's have always been 4 door Saloon cars based on the Rally car. With the option of the estate model for those who want fun but also practical.

So Subaru ditched the iconic Saloon shape and the for estate and combined the 2 and made it a hatchback.

Once Subaru realised the fans didn't like it they ditch it and went back to Saloon models. Bet that cost them, and I bet they lost a few quid.

As soon as it became a hatchback and jumped into another category, your now head to head with some of the world best at making cheaper fast hot hatches.

Not saying I wouldn't buy a non turbo model. As a second car. As prefer 4x4.

But still Subaru didn't know what they were doing. Although they have now ditched WRX and STI range in Europe. And the Impreza is now a non turbo hatchback lol

The UK WRXS is basically an "end of build UK special" of the standard narrowbody WRX with some nice STi body upgrades plus the Prodrive Performance Package (PPP) (which also includes a Prodrive backbox/muffler)

An HKS muffler is available, as fitted to the JDM "equivalent" version the S-GT

https://www.hks-power.co.jp/en/produ...ffler/db/11426

Due to the WRX not sharing the same inlet manifold/intercooler setup to the WRXSTI other options are limited.
WRX

WRXSTI

Although Matty81 on here has done various upgrades to his.

The 2.0 engine is bomb proof. The 2.5 is the one to avoid.

Have you looked at the Impreza S-GT? Basically the 2.0 JDM WRX hatch, has dual AVCS, Twinscroll turbo. I picked one up for similar price to a uk WRX-S, its quicker, cheaper tax and has the more reliable 2.0 engine. TDR had it on the dyno and it made 298bhp/354lb with Milltek sports cat exhaust, Cosworth filter and remap.

Mishimoto do a direct replacement TMIC which is much bigger than the standard one, seems to get good reviews in the US too.
