Default Hellp with removing 5 speed gear linkage pin

hi all. I am currently trying to remove the linkage pin from an sti v3 1997 5 speed transmission.

I managed to get the inner pin out but the outer pin will not budge. Been hammering it with punches, screwdrivers and all sorts - no movement at all.

Any tips or alternative methods of removal would be great appreciated.

The outer pin pin sits out a little toward floor so not flush.

Was four hours at it - all the rest came apart no bother but grrr

Told you it was fiddly lol Knock it up from the bottom till it sits flush then with exactly the right size punch tap it out. An extension over the end of the punch helps or get the welder out and extend the punch. Once the centre pin is out there not too tight in the hole.

Ha ha cheers mate. Managed a technique using a socket extension and a scribe to punch out inner one. Was going mental at the outer one but didn’t move.

Just bought the proper punches off ebay so will try and give it another go next weekend.

Just wondering what the best thing will be to use to smash it flush lol

the joys mate lol

Piece of long round bar the problem being there's a bit of bounce so you need short sharp taps with a sensible size hammer.

To be fair, for most of the whacks I was using a large weighted rubber mallet - maybe not best?

Wasting your time with that a normal size or even a bit lighter ball hammer and short sharp taps.
