Help - Car won't start when warm
Hello all.
Hoping someone on here can help.
A car I sold 6 months ago to a friend has developed a problem which seems unusual.
2008 STI with subtle mods and remap, drives fine when cold, and as it gets warm it still runs fine, but then as soon as the ignition is turned off and subsequently back on the pump no longer primes to restart. If left to cool down the car will prime and start fine...
The new owner isn't a million miles away from Richard Henry so he's going to go and see him, but I thought I'd ask on here. Andrew Carr believes it might be something to do with the alarm???
Help anyone, much appreciated.
Robert

If it’s not priming my understanding is they should always prime , so my thoughts are alarm , fuel pump , fuel pump relay maybe getting a bit hot , is car battery ok as if it’s slowly going that may not supply enough current to make ecu etc work , but when it’s left and cold and no drain on the battery its ok

Thanks for the response.
We are all on the same lines, he is going to swap out the fuel pump first and take it from there. I actually fitted a RCM pump in my ownership (12 months ago now), so I doubt it is this, but sensible to start ruling out the obvious I suppose.
Fuel pump does not prime when warm, nor run if the car is bumped off.
Cheers,
Robert.
