Really, I don't believe it, so VW weren't the only company fiddling with emissions data ? Astonished

Anyone around long enough will know they frigged the drive by tests on the classic by having a mode that limits boost if you drive in a certain way.

It's a nasty little "function" that can leave you down on power when trying to overtake a slow moving truck on an A-Road.

So its been going on for a damn sight longer than 2002.

I never knew that John, sounds a little more terrifying than some pesky co2 issues!

How is the car going John, haven't seen you in quite some time now?

BMW have got a tug for not recalling a number of model for safety issues. The silence is deafening. Including Mini's. Not the same but it's how car manufacturers ride rough shod over customers.

Since fitting my ESL, I'd forgotten about that one. Something to do with after you'd been holding it within a certain rev-range for a length of time, and then when you floored it, you'd only get half boost. Annoyingly, it was always around the revs that you'd typically at when doing 30MPH in 3rd gear that would trigger it.

A quick off/on blip of the accelerator gets around it, but very irritating when you come out of a 30MPH zone in a village into a national speed limit, go to overtake the car in front of you only to find you've got no power!

Robert.
When it was first noticed it was thought to be a fault, but with enough cars showing the same behaviour it was sussed as a frig to get the car through noise testing drive by tests that were used at the time.

It's quite a dangerous function, the way around it when it triggers is just come off the throttle and go straight back on, you get full power then. Not a natural thing to do if going for an overtake.

Not been about much for a couple of years due to workload and a back issue which has stopped me chucking the car about, but working on that.

Car is going strong, just gone through 116K miles, still chucking out close on 500BHP daily driven.
