Default Adverse impact if changing exhaust

hi all
I currently have a huge japspeed exhaust system in my v3 Classic sti - think it is 3” into 5” back box?
I also have the original sti back box and wanted to put this back on but minimising performance loss.
Could I remove the hapsoeed back box (3” I think) and fit the sti backbox (2.5” I think) using a 3” to 2” exhaust sleeve?

will changing the back box and subsequent gas flows screw up my ems map and out engine at risk?

Thanks all

pre cat and downpipe cat exhaust mods normally at least need a map check or a remap , post main cat don’t normslly need any thing doing , you can for example remove the central resonator put a delete pipe in and it will be fine

Pointless just replace whole system with 2.5" as the back box will be restricting the rest of exhaust system anyway.

Is it a cheap 3" system, you can tell if there's loads of flexy sections in the exhaust. As there built to newage spec so don't match up with classic sections. I've tried.

Thanks for input.
no exhaust is Japspeed and has no flexy pipe - seems decent quality.
Just thivking it may look better with standard sti back box and be a little quieter for neighbours.
I don’t think solely changing 3” diameter back box for 2.5” standard back box would impact anything dramatically- including performance?

I noticed a difference when i swapped my 2.5" to a 3" decat and stainless steel exhaust. But that could of been the decat more than the 3" system. I now have a 3" power flow with 100 cell sports cat.

As the old system was a jap style system and not neighbour friendly. Although it did allow me to fit a bung in the end. I use to fit it if coming home late. Was abit of a faff, and still got complaints from next doors, everyone else in the street said nothing.
