Default BRZ

Been a while since i have been on here due to selling my Blobeye.
But, have seen a nice BRZ for sale, and am very tempted. The question i have, is about the exhaust/sound. They are a little tame in standard form. Does anyone know what is available as an aftermarket system/back box etc, to make it a little more vocal?
Anyone own one on here, and advice/comments much appreciated.
Thanks.

Miltek have a range of exhaust options.

Litchfield Motorsport use Miltek pipes in conjunction with their supercharger kits to bring them up to 280bhp.
I'm very tempted in getting a new toy myself!

You can get unequal length exhaust manifolds if you're looking for them to be a bit less boring sounding.

I'd be careful with Miltek, there's a few complaints on the owners forums about them cracking. A lot of the exhaust stuff that Tuning Developments have made seems to be well regarded, especially their NA tuning package.

I wouldn't personally, it'll have an effect on the performance. That and you're making it sound like something it isn't, which is a bit tragic.

That will reduce performance and require work on the engine.

Did I mention that you slap a turbo on the end of them?

Plenty of UEL manifolds out there which show power increases on the BRZ...

Power is useless without driveability. Attaching a turbo does not make for a better car.

Why does adding a turbo worsen drive-ability ?

Very expensive though. Although from what i've seen Cosworth did a hell of a lot of development work, so you're getting a very well engineered kit.

initial turbo lag could be seen as being a step back, n/a is just plant and go

yeah not cheap, clinic have been playing with one and have put syvecs on it so it runs all 8 injectors. wasnt far off 300bhp and pretty linear step up across the whole rev range

Or in the BRZ's case, plant and just about go until the revs are high enough...

I have just brought a BRZ and tbh it doesn't feel underpowered at all 0 to 62 in 7.2 (official figures) I've had Impreza previously so I know what 300 Hp feels like, it has a great chassis like driving a go kart as you sit low down, to give you an idea of how low it is the wife's R56 Mini Cooper towers over it.
You do get a lot of road noise in the cabin so changing the exhaust would increase that.
But it's fun car to drive.

I’m yet to drive a turbo’d 86/BRZ but I wouldn’t have thought so. The standard car has quite a significant torque dip in the midrange which almost feels like turbo lag if you’re nlt careful.

That’s not bad going. Though various forums seem to suggest the rods become a bit of a concern much past 280bhp.

Although on the subject of Scooby Clinic, there’s a piece in Jap Performance mag this month on the BRZ they built for gymkhana and it makes it sound like an EJ20/4wd conversion is surmising easy (using bits from the newage Impreza).

Well the article suggests there's an awful lot of cross over in parts, so most of the installation was a bolt together job. The only bits they seemed to have tweaked were the engine mounts (just to move the engine forward slightly).
