Default London congestion charge question

Hi
Am I right in thinking the congestion charge is not payable on the weekend , only monday to Friday 7am to 6pm ??

I bought a car off a member on here a couple of months ago , and collected it on a Sunday, and today had a penalty through the post , with them saying on the phone today they sent a letter out with a fine , which I never got , but now it's gone up 50% !

As I took my rally service van and trailer , because of the size of the van , a 5 ton van , I have a fine of £1500 .

I've search the internet for hours , and everywhere I look , it says there is no charge on a weekend.

Bound to be someone on here who knows .

I'm hoping they've got it wrong !!

Cheers Ian

Hi Ian,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but I fear you have been hit with failing to pay the Low Emmision Zone charge.

The LEZ is a different area to the Congestion Charging Zone and is HUGE. It covers most of greater London out as far as the M25 in many places. The Congestion Charging Zone is just the very centre and only a couple of miles or so across.

LEZ operates 24/7, CCZ is 7.00 - 18.00 Monday to Friday.

Real sorry you have got caught out.

Pete
