Question

Folks, i've got a really strange noise coming from my UK MY99 scoob. Difficult to describe - a sort of resonance noise, sometimes quite loud, especially on the overrun. If I drop the clutch when it happens the noise goes away so definitely not a road noise. Higher speed it seems to get louder. Any ideas ? Could it be an exhaust problem ?

Almost certainly a cracked / loose heat shield. Easy to fix once you find which it is. The one next to the sump is quite common.

Had a similar noise in the Maxi the other week. Turns out it was next door neighbours rottweiler chasing alongside me barking like billio for 1/4 mile. I had no idea what the awful noise was until my mate Ralf saw it when he came out of the Three Feathers. He had only had 7 pints but thought he was one over the eight when he saw me pootling down the road with a blooming great rottweiler in tow....Blutes
