Default Car on dyno this Saturday

Don't really know what to expect, as looking at it , it looks standard but driving tells a different story. Will post up results

Why are you miffed lol just leave your pc

What he is trying to say is that his car is going on the dyno on the weekend but he isn't sure what to expect. Looking at the car it seems standard but when driving it the car doesn't feel like it is. Once he has a dyno result he will share it on here.

It's a 2001 (bugeye) Subaru Impreza Sti, import. On a vf30 only mods I can see is de-resonated centre section.

So your not sure if its been remapped or not? I once had a JDM bug STI, the power delivery is much different to the UK version (both single scroll).

Well I'll start the guesses at 299bhp

Rob, just mostly how the car felt to drive my last Impreza was 05 widetrack sti with PPP, so was 315. This just felt as fast if not faster in areas of my driving style. But I'm very happy with the results can't wait to get mapped. Gonna wait as I'm very happy with power delivery even if numbers say different.

I've had a JDM STI bug, there a good engine bud, apparantly stronger than the uk equivalent. I think they come with a VF30 standard which are good for 350-370 with help

might get better figures if you run it on a flat surface instead of up a wall maybe?

Probably feels and is faster in certain areas because it's a smaller turbo (I think) less lag makes for a better drive and a quicker car in many real world situations... it's not all about numbers.

My PPP wagon at ish 260bhp was quicker on the road once moving in quite a few places that I drove regularly than my 330bhp Type R... longer ratios, decent mid range and being heavier with softer suspension actually went in it's favour... which basically goes against everything people believe to be the case, but bumpy greasy roads don't favour firm rear wheel biased twitchy cars.

K&n filter, uprated fuel pump, uprated inlet pipe, remove cat, 20% meth map should be close in my opinion.

I put a vf30 on WRX, well a uk300 to precise and that made 340 on pump fuel.

Inlet pipe?
I've a de-cat down pipe, de-resonated Center section fuel pump & uprated plugs waiting to go on. Was going to fit trick up pipe but didn't know wether to? as for 20% meth? Would that be necessary for road use plus what benefits would it give power wise, I currently only use 99 courtesy of Costco @ 113 per litre.

Really appreciate the advise even though this is my 4th Impreza never really went down the modified route, mostly stuck to look & cosmetics
Always keeping to subtlety

A smooth silicone inlet, I can't recall the brands I've used in the past, but Perrin have them. The standard inlet is a hard plastic which apparently is a little restrictive.

I believe the trick up pipe does offer benefits, but have never tested the results side by side to see what difference it makes.

20% meth would offer an earlier spool and more power, and at 50pl it's worth the hassle. I use to carry a Jerry (5L) of meth and full up under 1/2 tank, or just before reserve with two cans.

Last comparison on a blob STI was 380bhp v power, and 432bhp with 20% meth Okay it's likely the mapper didn't dial in the full potential on pump fuel only, but its clear to see the potential of using meth.

430 on 20% meth is crazy but really how would a standard jap bug engine cope with that. Not that I'd be up for going that high. But I'd be deffo up for hitting 350 - 380

No mate, this was SC42 turbo, I was just using my own experience of meth to explain the advantages. But I've had 340 from a VF30 without meth

SC42 with meth

The 2001> STI engines are stronger than you think semi forged internals as standard. Heard of people running mid 400s for many years without issues, even read of people getting 500+ but unsure how that faired out long term.

Heard so many people tell me so tell me different stuff about the intervals in this car. So very unsure what to know as real. Alan @ as performance is on my door step he told me it just normal engine. Bloke @ Evo tune told me this model was only made for 1 year and came fully forged???

Unsure what they mean bud, but I'm 99.9% confident that any standard 2.0 STI engine from 2001 Bugeye - 2005 Blobeye wide track is semi forged. So when you have been told a) it a standard engine, then yes it is, but it is still semi forged, and b) the bug was made from late 2000 through to early 2003, they were mainly 2001/2002 models, so arguable made over two years.

There are variations in the SCD but all were semi forged as far as I know, the heads varied but the main changes were in the special editions.

I'm not an expert in this field so you may want to research, but after owning quite a few variations, most of which were modified, I have had experience of pretty much all the 2.0 Semi forged motors except the special editions, and not once have I experienced any mechanical issues with the SCD engines.
