Type R gone, here is it's replacement.
The Type R was not on the market very long, a couple of days and it was snapped up. Record speed of sale for me!
I ordered the M2 in February this year and on 6th July it was finally ready for collection.
Just had the 1200 mile running in service done which meant I could actually open op the car. At the same time as having the service done, I had the M Performance Exhaust installed. Quite simply an amazing sound with the valves either opened or closed!
Its early days of ownership, but the M2 is a truly wonderful car. Its certainly not the fastest car I have ever owned, the Type R was marginally faster 0-100mph. But it makes up for this in a lot of other ways. The technology on board is excellent, I was not expecting the iDrive system to be as good as it is. The Adaptive Headlights is pretty awesome to see working. The road holding and steering response is very well balanced for a car with an electronic servo controlled steering rack.
The DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) at times can ruin the fun a little bit by being to over sensitive, but this can be resolved at a touch of a button.
I do have plans for some performance modifications, but most of them invalidate the engine warranty and I am not so sure I want to take that type of risk with a car such as this. The only legitimate non warranty invalidating performance modification is expensive, around £3600 for an extra 50bhp!! Thats the AC Shnitzer offering.
I am very happy with this car and am very much looking forward to taking it on the European road trip I have planned for next year.
I still have my Forester for winter use, so I still have a scoob in the family!

Its a 7 speed DCT box. Had two E46 M3's with the SMG gearbox so thought I would follow suit with the DCT in this car!
There is an ongoing argument as to which is better, manual or DCT. Personally I like new tech, so DCT was the obvious choice.
DCT is about 0.2secs faster to 60mph too, lol.
