Default WRX RA or STI RA

Hi

looking for a bit of advice and info please guys, i am looking in to buying a weekend toy to replace my rally car, i am after something that has the grin factor and that will hold its money over the next few years, i am looking at a WRX RA or STI RA not too sure on the difference between the 2 but believe the WRX is a bit more stripped out eyc no elec windows etc i am not bothered about this as its a car to drive and have fun with. My budget is approx £6k will i be able to get one for this? help and any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers
Mark

you should get an RA and maybe an STI RA at that budget depending on what miles and condition you are after. If your thinking of importing one chances are neither will come in at that money (on the road) as prices have went north all of a sudden going by what i've seen in japan since the start of the year.

Personally I would have an STI RA as its got more power out of the box, still has a short ratio box although not just as short as an early RA. It also has the DCCD and has been fettled with by STI. All of the classic JDM models seem to be going up in value with the likes of the STI RA and Type R's the most sought after.

Well any Impreza with the word STI will go for more than a WRX. So for investment STI, plus i'm sure the STI will cost more to buy and be a better car in general.

The WRX RA and STi RA have the same power after MY 97.

If you're looking for something that will ''hold it's money for the next few years'' then you might also want to go on the relevant forums and ask about current/future government and central bank financial and monetary policy, particularly with regards to fiscal stimulus (QE), credit availability and interest rate setting... and the subsequent effects on creating and sustaining asset price bubbles.

I think this applies to any good condition classic now , if you buy a good one , and keep it nice , it will do both.

I can see from your post you're not in it for an investment , so I think the last couple of post are irrelevant , I have just paid £7.5k for a very nice version 4 STi RA , so you should get one for £6k
