The early "SF" JDM foresters (S/tb; T/tb) all ran "wrx" engines with TD04 turbos. (220 or there abouts)

Even the 04 onwards "SG" FSTi has a wrx (EJ255) base engine albeit with a VF turbo.

The early FSTi vI was no different as most of the changes/additions were cosmetic in nature.

However with the coming of the vII typeM (manual) things changed a bit

https://www.sti.jp/typeM/main.html

Power was raised to 250ps

I also "re-found" this recently

In 2004, Subaru launched an STI variant of the Forester, the Forester STI, for the Japanese Market. It shared the same engine as the 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STI,

That would be wrong then as all SG FSTi's have EJ255 base engines
