RE070 old technology now - what was state of the art in 2005 has been surpassed.

Personally I prefer a 94+ sidewall for good steering response. Avoid anything below 91 as handling will suffer massively. The Michelin Pilot Sport 4 has a 97 sidewall.

Can't beat Yokohama ad08's great tyre for road, track and in the wet and you can swap them from side to side to get maximum wear out of them Cheers Rob

Sorry to thread high jack but I've got the BBS alloys on my MY03 JDM and the current tyres are only a 215/45R17 (91). Can I fit 235/45R17 on them? The alloys themselves are 17x7.5 - 53 :

Research I'm finding shows that most if not all owners are using 225 or 235 not 215 on the same size alloy, so it's probably a stupid question but I wanted to hear it from the horses mouth so to speak.

The problem I'm finding it the tyres im thinking of buying aren't available in a 215 size.

Thanks,
Binny

215 is a classic size tyre bud, should be 225 at least on a newage.

Load rating changes sidewall construction - it may, or may not, effect sidewall stiffness.

I thought 215 was a little small. I've always thought something didn't look quite right in comparison to other cars. Almost as if the wheels were too small, not filling the arches properly, which of course the will with the bigger tyre.

Thanks everyone, Binny

I'd say 235 are more suited to the widetrack and 225 for narrow track/classic 215 to skinny but that's only my opinion
