Default Blob STI advice please

A friend has recently decided he wants to get his car back on the road after being parked up for roughly 6 months. It's a UK STI and has covered 71k miles.

Its been indoors but not started for at least the last 4 months. Now we started the car the other day with a jump pack as the battery was completely dead and now even when the engine gets up to normal temperature it idles at around 1500RPM.

We've left it running for 20 odd mins and turned it off but the battery is completely dead as it won't even bring on the dash lights etc when you try starting it again.

when running the handbrake like flickers from time to time leading me to believe this revving higher than usual is battery related?

Could someone advise please 👍

If the alternator was fine before he parked it up would it just go like this?

Thanks
