Help!
I posted earlier about a remap and after the answers decided to have a quick peek under the bonnet, what I have found is the right side belt has come off the pulley, I will try and post a picture but is the right hand Sid pulley just the AC unit? Is it dangerous to drive until it gets a replacement belt? I did notice it wasn't blowing cold but assumed it just needed a recharge.
2001, Impreza WRX wagon.
thanks for your help.

Yes it's the aircon. The other belt is for the power steering. I'd remove it personally.

phew, thanks for that, think I will remove it tonight and get a new one put on asap, I know a lot of people discard the AC as it drains power but let's just say I'm more on the chunky monkey side rather than skinny Minnie and tend to overheat in the summer months

As far as I know it's just the A/C that belt....let me check....yep looks like it. First thing is engine off of course and pull out any broken bits of belt. Get a decent torch and make you get it all out. Safe to drive without it. That bottom small tensioner pulley could be toast (again safe to drive if so) as it looks like the A/C belt has been rubbing on the cambelt cover for some time...see the small hole?
I'd get it to a decent garage or specialist if it was me, shouldn't take someone half decent too long to do the job. The new A/C belt will go round the rear most part of the large crank pulley seen on the left, but alternator / power steering belt will have to come off first...not a job I've ever done myself. Unlucky, but it happens....least it's not middle of the summer lol

ok, removed the belt, yep it's been like that for quite a while judging by the melted mess I pulled out from behind the pulley. It looks like the belt came off the crancase pulley and got itself wound round and then started burning, at least that now explains the burning smell I occasionally got (was worried it was a clutch), will get a new belt, tensioner and possibly a cam belt cover. Thanks for all your help, I was slightly worried for a bit.
