Default Idle hunting problem help !!!!

Been having problems with my car... hunting for revs to nearly stalling and idling up and down, so I've just taken the pipe off the dump valve tip and it idles fine, any ideas what's going on?

Did you block off the end of the pipe? If NOT it sounds as though the car is running rich on idle. I say this because by disconnecting the pipe then you are allowing extra air in. One possible cause of this could be the idle control valve being dirty. It can be removed and cleaned but you will need a new gasket when refitting.
