I know there is a relevant section for this sort of thing, but do people think that a Projects forum would be any use (possibly including how to?) its just that we have seen a fair few projects floating around, and its hard to find these when you want to make something yourself, ie replace a downpipe, with pictures?
erm Intercooler Project... Water Spray... Modifing Fuel Rails, modifying TD05 for straight inlet... Replacing a td05 with a td04...
Any suggestions?
Edited to add that I emailed Simon and asked him the same... but its pointless if only me thinks it will be any use.

That or a 'classic thread' forum with 'sticky' threads so you don't have to search - though how they'd get 'classic' status is a tough one to decide. Say you have a 'Projects', 'Dawes', 'Engine oil' or 'Ecutek' sticky thread, containing links to good threads on main subject.
Chuck
PS On the other hand rumour has it that the search facility will be back soon.

I know what you mean, but I think it would encourage more people to try and do things themselves... ()

Ive had the following response from simon:
I think this would be worth posting in general to see what kind of response it would get.

Feel free to post the suggestion in general and make sure you note that I have suggested you post it in there to gauge response.

I would prefer sticky threads in the appropriate sections, these could either be "elected" by the users or the mods. There is usually consensus on what is a classic thread.
The problem is when you get more than 20 sticky threads, all the daily stuff gets pushed off the bottom.
My suggestion some time ago was to have a "classic thread" section, with or without an FAQ element, which worked really well on another BBS I used to visit. I realise this goes against what I said above about the appropriate section . They were all voted in by the users - basically you got a bunch of users all saying "Hey, we think this one's a classic!" Newcomers could then look through the classics and have all the juicy stuff of the last six months to a year at their fingertips - that would include projects, johnfelstead's epics, and perhaps Koni-equipped Cavaliers and pslewis' "pay me to say gold wheels are good" campaign

I think its an excellent idea!!! i'm all up for a bit of diy!!
There are other sites that i occaisionally look at for diy mods but they are not updated very often and the ammount of different projects is not very varied....
Just by the comments and ammount of hits on davids thread goes to show that it would be a great idea...
I think that one of the main advantages of this site compared to others is that there is a wealth of knowlege that can help save money and make owning a scoob a lot more interesting....
Now i'm off to take some pics of my 3.4 twin turbo scoob conversion

LOL @ Adam.
I like the idea of a seperate forum that could be used for DIY projects.
Could also suggest, unless someone already mentioned it and I missed it, that minor changes and tweaks could be posted up as well. It would give the more technically dim (myself for one) the option and chance to do more things ourselves. It could even turn into an on-line Haynes manual.

Great idea - worth considering I think.
What about also extending the VIP section to allow people to 'save' their favourite threads (as opposed to just tracking when a person posts on a particular thread)?

Yep good idea. It must be a pain to board regulars to see the same questions get asked over & again when the answers are hidden deep down in a thread somewhere.
Let's get it on! Simon, can you do this and search too?
