Default AVCS solenoid position tweek?

Hi gents,

(Another) fitment issue I have come across on my build, is the connection for the AVCS solenoid is very very close to the top feed fuel rail, meaning the avcs electrical connector cannot fit on.

See pic,

What I have done is stretched the hole on the solenoid bracket and rotated the solenoid slightly. (obviously put the bolt back in and tightened up)

Do you think this may cause problems being slightly rotated (timing problem?) or is the bracket only to stop the solenoid coming out?

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

Carl

Depends if the ports no longer line up inside the holder.

Fit 2.5 solenoids, as the connector faces the back not the top, & put a spacer under the mounting bracket, as its a few mm higher than the 2.0.

Thanks for the response,
So the connection faces the inlet manifold on the 2.5 ?

Did you fit the 2.5 solenoids? I have the same problem. Is the function of both solenoids the same so that it's just the connector and bracket that differs?

Are these the correct ones? 10921AA080

Also, would it be stupid to buy used solenoids? I mean if they get filled with debris, wouldn't want to risk my new engine.

I ended up trimming the side off the loom connection blocks to squeeze them on (not ideal) I wont know if this has done the job until mapping.

I did see these below, which are a lot cheaper than ICP.

What intake pipe is that? it looks wafer thin, surely it will collapse under boost?

Well I didn't actually have to trim anything to get my connectors on, but I do have to fit the connectors first and then finally tighten the fuel rails. It's just a clearance issue of 1 mm or so. But I really don't like having it this way so was looking into the 2.5 solenoids.

Yes I've seen the cheaper solenoids but on these I think I'd rather go OEM for proper function.

That's a Lateral reinforced one with no takeoffs the bit you can see normally has a aluminium sleeve in.
