Dealer Servicing - Worth It?
Hi,
I have an '07 WRX Hawkeye with 33,000 miles on the clock. It's 3000 miles overdue for its 30,000 mile service, which is not a problem to me as I've already changed the gearbox and diff oil, and the car has had engine oil+filter changes every 6000 miles since I got it at 13,500 miles.
I'm thinking of selling it and my question is whether I should spend £350 to get a dealer stamp in the book for work I've already done, or to leave it. On a ten year old car, would the lack of the 30,000 mile service stamp make a difference to a prospective buyer?
Advice appreciated.
Cheers,
Paul

it does not have to be a dealer to service the car , for me a stamp from a suitable garage is worth a lot , if you keep your cars long term then not as necessary , if selling it is as on here when people are asking advice on buying cars a lot of people are saying " does it have service history "

Sold my WRX Wagon with 126k on the clock, last stamp was 57k when it had a timing belt, had a folder full of receipts and was overdue a cambelt by almost 10k and 2.5yrs (no date stamps on cambelts ) ... my reasoning was do I spend a grand and then struggle to get £3k or sell as is and the buyer can do it.
Sold in 3 days for £2400 which I was happy with... had it for 4yrs and 34k miles cost me a radiator, and fluids in all that time and I only paid £4k for it when I bought it, I also kept the AP 4 pots it came with... so I think I did pretty good.
So that's a no from me.

If the dealer has a good reputation then I would go there over some of the speciallists any day, but that also works the other way round too.
Once you find a good dealer or speciallist, I would stick with them, paperwork to back up whats been done and put it in a folder so you have a good record.
