Default Exhaust advise

Guys, anyone got a video of the ninja system onboard? I've running a standard 2002 wrx with a racebox backbox only. Finding it a little too quiet after being in for a few months... was thinking about de resonated centre or mayby a ninja 2 back box? Any advise?

I have had both.

De-resonate and the noise changes considerably

So you think I should stick with the race box and de resonated? Get a bit more volume that way?

I've got a Ninja2 on my WRX Wagon and it's not that loud or drones. I still had the up pipe cat, primary cat and centre resonator in place until yesterday, so that will help to keep it quite.

The ninja does have cabin drone - especially over 60mph

I've a de-res centre pipe and back box, and yes it produces a lovely burble on tick over and low revs, boot it and there's a nice raw, but sit at anything over 2.5 - 3k and the drone starts.

a question linked to this , can you have too little restriction on a turbo exhaust system , if you have too less restriction on a n/a engine they sound loud but don't run well , is that the same with a turbo ?

Yes.

Loud is not everything, just an obsession of people who seek attention in McD carparks.

And before all the "brain like a planet" types start spouting about race cars etc, they have specific engineering tech to account for the lack of restricted exhausts, not many traffic light hero/tunnel runners do.

I was thinking that about the ninja system, had one one a classic a few years ago and can seem to remember it gave a bit of a drone

My UK Classics and JDM STi V5 had the Ninja and Ninja 2, WRX RA had a full Fujisubo Titanium sytem, my JDM Blob WRX and Foggy STI 3" Milltek Turbo back with sport cat - nice , my first Leggy WR Ltd had STI Genomo's, both UK Bugs were WR Sport set ups.

so are we saying too little restriction is not good , when i removed the centre pipe it helped , the current one has a sports cat , deleted centre section and a normal sports back box , maybe too much restriction removed ?

No.

The cat is still providing some resistance as will the bends in the pipework and the back box.
