puff of smoke start up
hi any one else getting the same thing , first start up or if left for a few hours a puff of smoke , once it's gone that's it no more , intercooler had a few dribbles in it but nothing looking that bad , a recent engine build only 1200 miles ago , it was a fully rebuild , parked on a slight slope , oil level seems fine , thoughts any one ?

Probably just some oil from the crankcase breather and rocker cover breathers going into the cold side turbo inlet then into the intercooler.
It sits in the connector from the TMIC to the inlet manifold then gets sucked in when you start up. Or seeps in and sits on the pistons overnight.
Nothing major I doubt, a catch can would sort this.
Used to happen on my forged build, sorted now I have a catch can.

I had exactly the same symptoms on my old Escort RS Turbo and it was the valve stem oil seals.
After a full rebuild though, that may not be the problem.

I occasionally get the same after hard driving and being parked on a slope. As mentioned above oil from the crankcase breather tubes is settling in the tmic and dribbling into the throttle body. When you start up you get a puff of smoke. A catch can will eliminate this.
